WRIST WATCH: A timepiece or jewelry

http://rewatchbrand.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_9828.html

Have you ever wondered why some people spend a lot on wrist watches or rather what is considered as extravagant by others? Is there a reason for spending  much on wrist watches?.
Some people marvel on hearing the amount spent on a wrist watch or  better still a collection of watches. I believe time is an illusion and no piece can measure or quantify it, but nowadays the love for expensive watches oversees its fundamental function of "what says the time". Paying more than usual for a timepiece is considered a luxury. Spending $200 and above for a finely crafted wrist watch is more a jewelry than a timepiece. So forget about analyzing and evaluating the cost of production which boils down to the market value of the components. Trying to justify the value of a wrist watch intellectually, based on your technical know-how on its mechanism will just take you down the slippery road of insanity without any tangible merit or benefit.

Some people believe since an inexpensive quartz watch will stick perfectly on your wrist and also accurately tell you the time, then of what use is paying more for one. Like earlier said, it is all about the love for luxury and one's unquenchable thirst for fashion or greater emotional satisfaction in having something more unique, which to me is a good motive.
Men are limited to the amount of jewellery they can have on at once unlike women who can bask in its beauty. So i think it is justifiable if a man spends a fortunate on one, moreover, a fine unique watch keeps you in a class of its own
